This Is How We Do It

The Story So Far

Bearded Lady Roasters was started by Adam Francis in 2012, with a simple belief that great coffee should be accessible to everyone.
In 2024, Zach and Lindsay Gagnon purchased the company from Adam, with the intention of continuing that mission. While also expanding its scope to provide a community-focused coffee shop that highlights all the fantastic things that can be done with coffee.
As of 2025, our coffee shop has relocated to the same location as our roastery, at 901 E 4th Street. Here, we will better serve our community as a proper third place for everyone. Whether you need a coffee stop after crushing your old PR on the Frisco trail, a wind-down tea after Joplin’s Saturday farmers market, or a thirst-quenching lemonade after stomping your opponents at Landreth's pickleball courts, we are centrally located to make any good day a great one!

What’s up with the name?

The name Bearded Lady is an homage to the bygone age of the great American traveling circus and sideshow, specifically the workers putting them on. Who, for a weekend at a time, would transform small dusty towns into centers of marvel, magic, and mystery. While also providing employment and community to individuals, “proper” society would all too eagerly write off as “freaks.” Likewise, we want to bring a little bit of magic to our small Midwest town while providing a space where everyone is welcome.
